Presentation of the book "Water and the Law : Water Management in the Statutory Legislation of Later Communal Italy" by Prof. Francesco Salvestrini, of the SAGAS Department and president of CEDAF (Documentation Centre on Florence Floods).
The author aims to shed light on the relationship between water management regulations and the local environment in the smaller cities and municipalities of northern and central Italy from the 13th to the 14th century, that is, on how oligarchic and lordly municipal governments planned the use and distribution of water, and the protection of inhabited areas from the danger of flooding.
