Passion for Palazzo San Clemente, home to the Library of Architecture and the architects' archives since 1966, unfolds through a tour of antique books, rare books, historical cartography and archival records, and guided tours of the palace, which testify to its transition from a stately residence to a space for the city. The present Palazzo San Clemente is a grandiose seventeenth-century complex, built as a suburban villa on the older building, which was radically transformed with its appurtenant spaces by Felice Gamberai to a design by Gherardo Silvani around the middle of the century. The building over the years underwent a series of remodeling and restoration work until 1967, when it was purchased by the University of Florence to make it home to the Library and some courses of the Faculty of Architecture.
