Tuesday, 19 November at 9:30 a.m., the Accademia dei Georgofili, Logge Uffizi Corti, will host the workshop "Women in Agriculture and Animal Husbandry: yesterday and today. What about tomorrow?”.
It held as part of the meetings The Agristories of the Technology Library of the University of Florence.
The historical role of women in the primary sector will be explained and the current situation in agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, aquaculture, and academia will be analyzed; prospects for addressing the challenges of social, economic, environmental sustainability, and digital transition will be highlighted.
Since the dawn of time, women have been involved in agriculture and animal husbandry, both practically and in scientific research. Nevertheless, for centuries they have worked quietly, often invisible to society. This event aims to finally give due weight to the female component in the agricultural sector, where it has traditionally been given a less prominent role than that of men.

- Cecilia Manzi (ISTAT): Women in Italian agriculture according to the 7th Census of Agriculture.
- Colomba Lina Sermoneta (EUROSTAT): Women's presence in the animal husbandry sector and women's contribution to the digital transition
- Paola Giordano (ISTAT): The role of women in the aquaculture and fisheries sector in Italy
- Lucia Bailoni (University of Padua, coordinator of the ASPA Study Group on Gender Equity), Anna Sandrucci (University of Milan), Paola Crepaldi (University of Milan): The role of women in academia in the area of animal production
