Perceiving the meaning of the elements that make up the territory and interpreting them according to one's knowledge. This, in a nutshell, means reading the landscape.
An approach to landscape knowledge, defined as cognitive-perceptual, that goes beyond both the traditional humanistic view, based on aesthetic perception, and the technical-scientific analysis, which examines reality as such.
The wide recognition of this procedure in the European Council Convention on Landscape makes it the paradigm of reference for its practical application in land planning and management, and in the involvement of the population in such activities.
The proposed method of reading is the subject of a careful examination aimed, on the one hand, at comparing it with the often controversial vision of landscape proper to modern society, and on the other, at highlighting its potential as a free and universal tool of knowledge.
The series of meetings Le Archistorie della biblioteca: presentation of books, experiences, projects... was born as a link and recognition of Luca De Silva's teaching and activity and is intended to represent its ideal continuation.
